Deb Foster of Normal recently wrote a letter to the editor in the Pantagraph that thanked Beyond the Books for a grant to purchase a SMART board for her classroom!
I am a recent recipient of a grant for my classroom. This grant purchased a SMART slate to be used in conjunction with a SMART board. Using the slate, I can manipulate and write on the interactive white board from anywhere in my classroom. It allows me to not have to stand by the SMART board in order to use it.
I am able to roam my room, checking students’ work. If I see a need for reteaching or clarification, I can write a problem on the spot using the slate, and it appears on the board for the class to see. Then I can even hand the slate to a student to have them solve the problem.
